OptiMed announce Essilor Edging Equipment distributorship
Optimed have relaunched Essilor Edging equipment into the Australian and New Zealand markets following their display at the May Southern Regional Congress in Melbourne.
"We utilised this conference to determine the level of interest and support for the product locally and have had a great response to the new generation machines now available" said OptiMed's MD Robert Sparkes.
"This is a new sector of the market we are about to tackle and we have ensured that we have the right product and support facilities available prior to committing to this venture. With that in hand, we believe we will be able to offer our clients the same high level of support we give for diagnostic and therapeutic instruments" he said.
Heading up this venture will be industry veteran Mark Stapleton who will take care of a team of 6 technicians who are undergoing training in order to service and support both new and existing Essilor edging customers.
"Mark has had extensive experience in the edging market and will make a good fit to manage the development of this division" says Sparkes.
"OptiMed technicians have been undergoing extensive technical training by Essilor specialists and the spare parts inventory is well stocked" Mark Stapleton commented.
"We should be fully up to speed by this years ODMAFAIR" said Mark.
The market will be impressed by Essilor's new generation machines including Mr Blue. Mr Blue has the ability to mill lenses, rather than grind them. This means less chance of slippage whilst milling and the ability to dry process lenses, eliminating the smell that high index lenses bring during the process. In fact just about the only thing Mr Blue can't do is make you a cup of coffee. Having said that you won't mind doing that yourself with the time Mr Blue will free up.
